Under 9 Football
2019-20 Season Review – TTFC U9’s Orange
We look back on this season and reflect on the quality of football we have played in so many games…
From XXX & XXXX…
“Thank you to everyone – players, parents, grandparents and extended family and friends who provide support and encouragement to the team on match days and at training – for their contribution to our Under 9s Orange season.
It is obviously a huge disappointment not to have been able to complete the season, and attend the four end-of-season tournaments that we were looking forward to so much, but of course that disappointment is countered by sense of realism at the situation we have all been facing since mid-March.
Firstly, I would like to use this message to thank assistant coach Phil Smith and goalkeeping coach Paul Stark for their hard work and commitment throughout this season. I would also like to thank our kit sponsor Phil Smith Communications and Four Seasons Windows Solutions, which provided branded new jackets and hoodies for the team – as well as jackets and t-shirts for myself and Phil – for their backing. It really is greatly appreciated.
We look back on this season and reflect on the quality of football we have played in so many games – the emphasis on pass-and-move, and showing desire, energy and commitment have been taken on board by the players, and will stand us in good stead as we look to improve again next season.
It seems a long time ago that we started our pre-season in the sunshine with a really enjoyable 5-5 draw with Langtoft, but we are proud of our performances overall and there is no doubt that we have we deserved better for those performances in some games when we have run so-called stronger teams much closer than previously.
Our away form before Christmas – six wins out of our first seven – was fantastic, but on the flip side it took us until the second week of January to get our first home win! As we move forward we will strive for continued development, underpinned by enjoyment.
Since lockdown we have been actively share training videos through our WhatsApp parent group, and it has been great to see the boys trying new skills; we will continue to do this until we can all return safely.
To Alex, Cameron, Charlie, Ethan, Harrison, Lucian, Luke, Matthew, Rohan, Sam and Toby, a huge thank for your efforts this season. Myself, Phil and Paul hope it won’t be too long before we can get back to training/playing. In the meantime, please keeping practising. Less FIFA, more actual football!”
